A few days ago I was in dire need of a scrub and of course I reached for my well loved Saison Autumn Cleansing Grains*. BUT the product has gone bad! I was so sad because I didn’t even use half of it. It does have an expiration date of three months, so it’s not really much of a surprise, but still. So it was the perfect time to make a new DIY cleansing grains. I had a quick think about it and drew my inspiration from my previous DIY recipes. My first homemade cleansing grains, Rosehip and Hibiscus Face Mask and Marshmallow & Oat Facial. So, today I want to introduce you to the gorgeous Rosehip & Marshmallow Cleansing Grains.
Like you can see on the photo above, I used seven beautiful ingredients for healthy and happy skin. Besides the wonderful ingredients you will also need a coffee grinder, wooden or plastic spoon and a jar to store the lovely product.
This recipe calls for:
– 2 tsp of Oats,
– 1 tsp of Rosehip, Hibiscus, Marshmallow and Rhassoul Clay each and
– pinch of Cinnamon and Turmeric.
Oats are one of my favourite ingredient, they are wonderful for the body and the skin. They are amazingly soothing, calming and moisturizing. They relieve itchy, inflamed skin and help combat redness, dullness and dryness. If you haven’t heard, oats are life! Another soothing ingredient in this product is Marshmallow. It’s healing and softening and works well on sensitive, dry skin, including psoriasis and eczema. Marshmallow is plumping and can soothe fine lines, even redness and heal abrasions, nicks and other small cuts present on the skin. Rhassoul Clay is a gorgeous clay, suitable even for sensitive and dry skin. This gentle clay draws out impurities from the skin, but isn’t drying like green or bentonite clay. Rhassoul clay actually reduces redness and flakiness, improves skin texture and it is just awesome.
The antioxidant rich Rosehip helps to protect and repair skin from premature aging. It contains lots of vitamin C, which helps to reduce the appearance of dark spots, aging spots and hyper-pigmentation. Another red ingredient in the mix is Hibiscus, a powerful flower which some even call Botox plant. Now that is some serious s*it. Hibiscus is rich in antioxidants and is actually a natural source of AHAs, Alpha hydroxy acids that help exfoliate the skin.
Last but most certainly not least are Cinnamon and Turmeric. Cinnamon is antiseptic, helps treat acne, eczema, it improves skins complexion and plumps up the skin. Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant rich spice, which you just have to incorporate in your routine. It’s very inflammatory, it reduces redness, acne, signs of aging, it is absolutely amazing and I love it dearly!<3 Now that you know all about them, just grind and mix them together and your DIY concotion is done.
You can see that the Rosehip & Marshmallow Cleansing Grains helps with
numerous skin problems and I think everyone can use it. Maybe if you
have extremely sensitive skin, use less rosehip and hibiscus but even
that is not necessary. You can use it as a morning face cleanser, a
scrub or a mask. Mix it with a bit of water, honey and/or oil of choice
and apply for 10 minutes. If you’re using it as a cleanser, you can mix it with some water or with cleanser of choice. Your skin will be smooth, soft, radiant and healthy.
Much love to you all,
Jana xx
